Going On Vacation?
Find A Mass Near You

MassTimes.orgAugust 2, 2011 - As you plan to head out for a vacation, don't forget Mass. In order to help you find the most local Catholic Church and subsequent Mass times, check out this web site: MassTimes.org. Once there, all you need to do is first select the state on the map or type in the name of the city. Then the map will hone into the local parishes. From there, select a parish and you can then get the Mass times as well as directions if the parish supplied them. You can also begin by selecting the diocese and then narrowing down your location from there.

Roman MissalFebruary 22, 2010 On the first weekend of Advent, our Sacramentary we currently use will be replaced with a newer, more literal translation. To be called the Roman Missal, as it is called in Latin, the new texts will require all parishioners and priests to learn new responses and prayers such as the Gloria, Sanctus, etc. Fr. Bill gave a one hour workshop on Sunday, Feb. 20th, to introduce the texts to the parish. He will offer a repeat presentation although the date has yet to be determined. In addition, we have created a new page which will help you find resources for the new texts as well as educational notes and podcasts which will help you learn more about the changes. During Mass we will watch a video from Archbishop Vlazny about the Appeal. If you received a personalized commitment card in the mail please bring it to Mass with you as we join together to support our Catholic Church in western Oregon. If you did not receive a commitment card in the mail pledge envelopes will be available during Mass. This next week, please read the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal materials you received in the Parish Bulletin today and prayerfully reflect on the level of commitment you will make next weekend. The Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal provides substantial financial support to essential ministries that support parishes in our Archdiocese. These programs provide education and faith formation at all levels and provide a Catholic presence for tens of thousands of people. Read more.

Archbishop Calls for All Catholics to Protect Religious Liberty

Archbishop VlaznyFebruary 4, 2012 - Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: It is important for you to know that the federal government has just dealt a heavy blow to the Catholic population and to the millions more who are served by the Catholic faithful.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that almost all employers, including Catholic employers, will be forced to offer their employees’ health coverage that includes sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception. Almost all health insurers will be forced to include those “services” in the health policies they write. And almost all individuals will be forced to buy that coverage as a part of their policies.

By this ruling, the Administration has cast aside the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, denying to Catholics our Nation’s first and most fundamental freedom, that of religious liberty. Unless the rule is overturned, we Catholics will be compelled to violate our consciences or drop health coverage for our employees (and suffer the penalties for doing so). The Administration’s sole concession was to give our institutions one year to comply. Read more by clicking here.

U.S. Bishops' Call For Political Responsibility

Faithful citizenshipUSCCB - The Catholic Bishops of the United States are pleased to re-propose to our people Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, our teaching document on the political responsibility of Catholics. This statement, overwhelmingly adopted by the body of bishops in 2007, represents the continuing teaching of our Bishops’ Conference and our guidance for Catholics in the exercise of their rights and duties as participants in our democracy. We urge our Catholic pastors and people to continue to use this important statement to help them form their consciences, to contribute to civil and respectful public dialogue, and to shape their choices in the coming election in the light of Catholic teaching.

The statement lifts up our dual heritage as both faithful Catholics and American citizens. We are members of a community of faith with a long tradition of teaching and action on human life, and dignity, marriage and family, justice and peace, care for creation, and the common good. As Americans, we are also blessed with religious liberty which safeguards our right to bring our principles and moral convictions into the public arena. These Constitutional freedoms need to be both exercised and protected, as some seek to mute the voices or limit the freedoms of religious believers and religious institutions. Catholics have the same rights and duties as others to participate fully in public life. The Church through its institutions must be free to carry out its mission and contribute to the common good without being pressured to sacrifice fundamental teachings and moral principles. Become An Automatic Giver

With all the stresses of life, St. Anne's has an option to help you donate in am easy, no-hassle, safe, and effective way. This process is technically called ACH (Automatic Clearing House) whereby a parishioner authorizes the Church to make regularly scheduled withdraws from his/her bank account. Simply, download the ACH Authorization form, fill it out, return it to the office with a voided check, and that's it. I you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Alan Crews, our business manager.

Plant in HandIn addition to the safety factor of ACH, it is also quite "green." An enormous amount of natural resources are consumed in the production, transportation, processing and disposal of paper checks. That's why paying bills electronically always ranks high on any list of actions an individual can take to improve the environment. Since the year 2000, the powerful trend toward electronic payments has already produced more than a 50 percent decline in check use. As you consider the payment method you use to make your regular offering, we hope that you will think about the unique connection between financial and environmental stewardship.
