Legion Of Mary

The Legion of Mary is an association of lay men and women who have formed themselves into a legion for service to the Church. Membership consists of acLegion of Marytive and auxiliary (praying) members. To be in the Legion of Mary, one must be a practicing Catholic. The main activity (apostolate) of the Legion consists in activities directed towards all people, no matter what age, socioeconomic status, or faith. Members are primarily engaged in the performance of the Spiritual Words of Mercy. In association with the pastor, our local Legion is also concentrating on evangelization, that is the bringing to the Church new members as well as those who have left for some reason.

The Legion was founded by Frank Duff on Sept. 21, 1921 in Dublin, Ireland. His hope was to help Catholic lay people to fulfill their baptismal promises while being faithful to the Church and supported by fraternity and prayer.
